Building muscle takes time and consistency, but once you've gained it, your body remembers. If you stop training and return to your old habits, you might lose muscle mass, but never the muscle. When you start training again, you’ll regain muscle much faster than the first time.
Someone who builds 5 kg of muscle in a year, and then loses it, can regain it back within 3 months, thanks to muscle memory.
